Week 1: Paint Lab

Dates: June 10-June 14
Time: 9am – 12pm
Ages: 10-16

NOTE: Can be purchased as a full day camp with Drawing Workshop for $400
* There will be a 30 minute supervised lunch break.
Paint Lab ages 10 and up – Experimental acrylic painting lab for creative young artists! . Students will have the freedom to explore many types of painting with acrylics paints and inks on cradled panel, canvas & paper. We will cover basic techniques and make fun discoveries, giving them the solid foundation that all artists utilize in their creative expression! Beginners are welcome and more advanced students can take their knowledge to the next level.
Week 1: Drawing Workshop

A class for kids aged 10-17 who love to draw.
We will cover basic drawing techniques as well as explore individual expression in a fun and supportive environment.
Week 2: Paint the Yuba River

Dates: June 17-June 21
Time: 9am – 12pm
Ages: 12 and up

Paint the Yuba River 12 and up – In this camp, students will paint our local river along with Denise Wey! Painting in acrylics, students will begin with a value underpainting. We will cover good composition, color-mixing, values and brushwork. Students will get a good start learning how to paint rocks, trees and river water and most importantly, how to begin finding their own artistic voice! Beginners are welcome and more advanced students can take their skills to the next level.
Week 3: Painting with Acryclics and Paint Pens on Thrift Store Paintings

Dates: June 24-28
Time: 9am – 12pm
Ages: 8 – 14

Students will bring their imaginations to life by painting right over top of kitschy, thrift store paintings! They will design, draw and paint their choice of cartoon characters, animals, manga, aliens, dinosaurs etc. into the scenes of their recycled paintings. They will learn image transfer techniques, and work out ideas in their sketchbooks, and complete two different paintings over the course of the week.

Week 3: Drawing Workshop

Week 4: Painting, Printing & Drawing in Paper Accordion Books

Dates: July 8-July 12
Time: 9:00am-12:00pm

Students will experiment with acrylics while learning about mark making, stamping, mono printing and drawing on paper. At week’s end, they will have created a totally unique, handmade fold-out accordion book to showcase their new skills and artistic vision.
Week 5: The Magic of Watercolor
Instructor: Denise Wey
Dates: July 15-19
Time: 9am – 12pm
Ages: 8 – 16

Art Lab and the Magic of Watercolor 8 and up – This art lab is for kids who love color, paints, brushes & drawing and anything to do with art! This class is experimental at its core, but students will learn the basics about how to handle watercolor…such as how to get values, color-mixing, washes, and care of materials.
Week 6: Mixed Media Collage Art Journals
Instructor: Nancy Schaefer
Dates: July 22-July 26
Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
Ages: 8-16
Cost: $255 (Materials Included)
Students will work in sketchbooks, using paint pens and collaging hand painted papers, vintage ephemera, washi tape, assorted magazines, vintage book pages, water soluble oil pastels, pencils and so much more to create these fun art journals. We’ll be adding in cool elements like accordion fold outs, vintage library card secret pockets too. There will be much freedom for student’s own ideas, as well as prompts and challenges provided.
Week 7: Collage Self Portraits
Instructor: Nancy Schaefer
Dates: July 26-August 2
Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
Ages: 10-16
Cost: $255 (Materials Included)
Students will spend the week creating collage self portraits using magazine and book images, and collage techniques. They’ll work out ideas in their sketchbooks, and practice using the elements of art to make their work pop. Students will complete their final artwork on a 9×12″ cradled wood board, perfect for displaying or giving as a gift.
