With smart planning, you may actually increase the size of your estate and/or reduce the tax burden on your heirs. You can make a significant impact to The Center for the Arts through a gift that costs nothing in your lifetime (through a charitable bequest under your will).
Bequests are gifts through a will or living trust and include transfers of cash, securities, or other property. They are made by including language in your will or living trust that leaves a portion of your estate—either specific or residual—to The Center for the Arts.
Bequests are a simple way to ensure your legacy and are the most common way to give a future gift to The Center for the Arts.
A Specific Bequest names a fixed dollar amount in your will or living trust as a gift to The Center for the Arts. This gift is paid from the general pool of assets in your estate or trust, so your estate doesn’t necessarily need to have cash or securities to cover the gift amount (as long as the value of all of your assets is sufficient).
A Percentage Bequest distributes a percentage of the value of your estate assets. Because the value of personal assets can rise and fall, it is often simplest to express these bequests as a percentage of your estate. This ensures that if your estate changes, your gifts will remain proportional to each other.
A Residual Bequest distributes all or a portion of the remaining balance of your estate after all other bequests are paid.
We understand that planned giving is a personal decision, and we are committed to working with you and your advisors to ensure that your philanthropic goals are met in a manner that aligns with your financial and estate plans. We would be honored to discuss your intentions, provide additional information, or answer any questions you may have.
On behalf of the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley, we express our deepest gratitude for your dedication to supporting the arts and enriching our community. Your commitment to planned giving will help secure a vibrant and thriving future for The Center, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Grass Valley.
Thank you for your consideration and continued support.
