Danielle grew up as a dancer. Jazz. Ballet. Tap. Modern. Hip Hop. But as she has gotten older; wiser, she realized that it’s not just about performing or moving around. “The way our bodies move tells a lot about us. Where we hold tension. Where an old injury is. How technology has drastically affected our skeletal structure.” In 2014, she ended up at a workshop where she was introduced to the GYROKINESIS® Method.
The GYROKINESIS® Method is a movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. Through this method, we will explore ways to restore your body to its natural function without the need for any equipment other than a chair to sit in and your body to work.
In December 2019, Danielle became an officially certified GYROKINESIS® instructor, and continues on a path of learning and teaching. She hopes that you find as much revitalization and mobility as she has through this movement.
While it greatly assists the dancer body, you are not required to be a mover to take the class. This method has the ability to be modified in many ways to include as many types of bodies as possible. You will need something stable to sit on, as well as a mat or towel. Depending on the class, you will need enough space to reach your arms to the sides and to sit with your legs straight.
