The landscape, our personal experience, and our society is subject to intense compartmentalization and segmentation over time, at least in the culture in which we find ourselves. This show represents a variety of explorations of that reality. From explorations of segmented landscapes to internal compartmentalization, these visual explorations reveal something about who we are. Making these works outside on the porch in the stillness of a COVID spring, or inside on the dining room table in the dead of winter, entails an unfolding and increased awareness of just how tangled we and our landscape have become. This show is an expression of that unfolding.

A contemporary fiber arts exhibition with multiple artists featuring work that is three-dimensional, free-form, and utilizes fiber-based material: cloth, paper, wood, etc. Curated by Brynn Farwell and Lin Schiffner, the purpose of this exhibition is to break free of the rectangular, two-dimensional confines of wall-based work.
This project began as a collision of surrealist creativity. The mother is a professional artist with an MFA degree and an in-depth knowledge and love for surrealism in all its forms. She has given lectures and classes on surrealism and created a lot of it herself! One day she discovered her own daughter’s exquisite, ethereal poetry! As she read it, her jaw dropped at the eerie phrases, nearly making sense and then. . . not. The mother was intrigued and, being an artist, imagery began popping and flowing into her head. She wondered what these poems would look like! The daughter wondered too and thus began the Mother-Daughter Project.
