Introduction to Hand Sewing 

Instructor: Elizabeth McComb

Dates: Sept. 18, 25, Oct. 2, 9, 23, 30, Nov. 6, 13, 20 (9 classes)

Time: 4:00pm – 5:30pm

Ages: 8 – 14

Cost: $225

Beginning Hand Sewing 

In this beginning hand sewing class students will explore hand sewing techniques and projects that don’t require a sewing machine, and discover just how simple and creative hand sewing can be! Drawing from her background as a professional clothing and costume designer, Elizabeth will break down the basics of hand sewing, and some embroidery techniques as well. Students will learn and practice their skills working on a number of creative projects that they can take home.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR 

About Elizabeth McComb

I am a professional seamstress and clothing/costume designer, I have a B.A. in Creative Arts, with a concentration in Art History. I have studied the clothing design elements of many time periods, with a particular focus on the Victorian and Medieval eras. In my more than 30 years of experience I have developed a unique set of skills that I enjoy sharing with, and teaching to others, especially young people. I like to think I am doing my part to keep the extremely important skill of sewing by hand alive in the next generation! I am extremely creative and innovative and think “outside the box”, inspiring creativity in my students.
