Three of Hawai‘i’s leading award-winning performers and musicians — Lehua Kalima (of Na Leo), Shawn Pimental, and Kawika Kahiapo have joined forces! Hawaiian musicians, singers, songwriters, entertainers, they have formed Kulaiwi to create music that springs from their Native Hawaiian roots. Accompanied by award-winning hula dancer Pono Fernandez, who is also an educator and ethnomusicologist, they create an evening that represents Hawai‘i today, while remaining mindful of their deep emotional connections to their roots.
Ludi Hinrichs
Ludi Hinrichs is most often identified with the trombone, but he is also an accomplished pianist, a vocalist, and plays the didjeridu, among other musical instruments. His performances reveal a wide array of experiences— matched by a keen improviser’s ear and a commitment to his craft. From Nevada City clubs and galleries to concert halls in foreign lands, Ludi is always full of surprises.
