About the Instructor
Virginia Faraco Goodison was born in Nevada City in 1960. From an early age she found inspiration and creativity in the visual arts. Her love for art drew her to a series of mentorships with accomplished professional artists, including Max Ferry, Juan Pena, and Sylvia Rogers. This strong foundation of rigorous training in a wide range of genres and mediums led to her own successful career as an artist, including commissions from Sacramento Zoo, the Folsom Zoo, the California State Water Resources Board, and numerous local businesses.
As an arts educator, Virginia has taught art for 30 years here in the community at all age and skill levels, both in the public school system and as a private instructor, including co-founding and teaching with Community Canvas. For Virginia, a smile on the face of a student after they complete a work of art is always a cherished moment. Through her belief that art is for everyone and that everyone has an inner artist that wants to come out and play, even self-declared “non-artistic” guests leave her classes with a beautiful work of art that they’re proud of—not to mention a whole new set of memories. Virginia’s passion for art is contagious and living on the Right Side is her mantra.
