Bring your curiosity or passion for theater and performing, and come create a show to perform for friends and family on the last day of class. We explore “principles of good acting and character development” through theatre games, skill development exercises, mini-plays, skits, poetry, and Broadway songs. We throw in a bit of Improv to keep us all on our toes. We spend part of the time each day learning music, lyrics, and choreography from Broadway musicals and movies. (No formal dance or singing training is necessary, and is always welcome)
By mid week a story starts to emerge around the songs, skits, scenes, and characters we have been developing and practicing. Suddenly by Thursday we are running the show to get ready for our Friday performance. Everyone is onstage for the entire show and has the opportunity to create, develop and sustain a believable character that is part of the story.
Come PLAY with us! (The final production is at 12:30 on the last class of each camp and lasts approximately 25 minutes. Regular class will meet from 10:00 AM thru the performance)
*Younger children 6-8 with dance or theatre training will be considered for acceptance by the instructor into all sessions if there is space.
