The OnTheGo series by The Center for the Arts continues to bring talent and art from around the world to our community in alternative venues throughout Nevada County until our grand reopening in spring 2019!
Art Exhibition features a variety of local artists including:
Ryan McVay, Chantelle Goldthwaite, Jarod Kane, Ron Jermyn, Valerie Messervy Birkhoff, and Brynn Farwell.
North of Somewhere
North of Somewhere is a group show exhibiting works by local artists that appear to be a little… off course. Walking through this space the viewers will find materials used for the wrong purposes, subjects obscured, compositions out of place, and immobile forms in motion. These artists keep it with at least one limb outside or the box at all time.
Experience fresh thoughts and weird ideas in the first fine arts exhibition at 998 Plaza Drive in Grass Valley.
Ryan’s relaxed and spiritual nature and passion for life is captured in his one of a kind works of art that have been collected internationally from blown glass to paintings. As for his life his friends call it “The Magic Carpet Ride”
Alt Art Society:
Alt Art Society is an international collaborative group co-directed by Chantelle Goldthwaite and Michael J. Rowland. They create unique multi-disciplinary exhibitions utilizing the genius of a new group of artists for each project. They provide the artists with a platform in which they can step out of the confines of their studio and career and contribute in an energetic and expansive way. They provide them a place to stretch who they are artistically while working within a collaborative structure. They hope to bring the viewer a more interactive, engaging and en-joyful experience. The art world currently resides on the precipice of a huge paradigm shift… gone are the days of white walls and exclusivity. Come join us in a world where the viewer, not just the artist and collector, plays a vital role in that which we create… together.
The process of becoming a sculptor began at the age of seventeen and continues to be exciting and fulfilling. Techniques began and developed, working directly with metal through a construction process. Creating the sculptures though building them, welding, hammering, grinding and finishing, the pieces evolved. As the worked has advanced additional materials and techniques have been incorporated. The results are reflected in a balance of form, line, texture and patina.
