This year, we brought Family Fun Day online! Offered four times a year, these events are geared toward families and introduce many young children in our community to their first-ever arts experience. We offer families the opportunity to participate in healthy art-based activities together, such as face painting, crafts, and other fun entertainment.

Performance: Diary of a Wombat

MONKEY BAA THEATRE COMPANY TO PRESENT NEW AUSTRALIAN PLAY, DIARY OF A WOMBAT

Based on the multi-award winning picture book by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley. Millions of young people around the world have adored the book, and now finally this iconic work has been adapted for the stage by Monkey Baa’s Creative Directorate Eva Di Cesare, Sandra Eldridge and Tim McGarry. This landmark Australian production will feature stunning puppetry, a live cello score and a brilliant set design in Monkey Baa’s signature style.

Audiences aged three and over will meet Mothball, the naughtiest wombat in Australia. Bored with her daily routine, Mothball goes in search of new shelter and food, creating chaos in the lives of the humans around her. Between a packed schedule of scratching, sleeping and eating, Mothball discovers that with a bit of persistence, humans are quite easily trained! This delightful non-verbal adaptation of the award –winning picture book by Jackie French features puppetry, movement, and cello music. The performance is approximately 42 minutes long. You can watch it all at once or it can be broken up into 3 “chapters” with the accompanying parent/teacher guide.

Director Eva Di Cesare and a team of revered creatives including Puppetry and Movement Director Alice Osborne, Designer Imogen Ross and accomplished composer Oonagh Sherrard use the magic of puppetry and live music to bring this delightful story to the stage.
