A step-by-step class covering the basics of watercolor as well as additional, more advanced techniques. We will begin with studies of materials, color, washes, glazing, planning & drawing, brush techniques, masking fluid and composition. An explanation of the Principles and Elements of design will be covered – and included in our works of Art! Bring your imagination and 3 ideas or inspirational photos for 3 subjects! Let the Magic Begin!

Instructor Bio:

Kyra Kelley was born in Houston, TX and has lived in 8 states before returning to California. She was a Fine Arts Major at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Following college, Kyra began an apprenticeship in floristry. Five years later, she purchased Comal Flower Shop on the Plaza in New Braunfels, TX and a vintage 1927 building. Remodeling the building into luxury apartments and her florist, she owned it for 25 years.

Kyra has enjoyed teaching art and floristry for 40 years, from Pre-K to Adult Community College. She also oversaw education for florists on a local, state and national level for 10 years, as well as designed winning floats for the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA. She enjoys volunteering for various organizations in Grass Valley and acting as a Senior Companion Caregiver. “Art and flowers have always been my passion! I look forward to sharing both at The Center for the Arts” states Kelley.
