HIP-HOP LEVEL I (ages 7-11) Class begins with a warm-up in the center, progresses through isolations, and ends with a culminating combination. The instructor will incorporate rhythmic qualities of music into the dancers’ bodies as well as learning to “follow the leader”; varying in approach and technique. The emphasis is on finding a comfort zone for the dancer, and the instructor will encourage individuality and confidence in movement.

Instructors Soleil Johnson will create a fun learning environment and encourage beginning hip hop dancers to elevate their skills!

HIP HOP LEVEL II (Ages 12+)

“This is a no judgement class aimed to empower, create and leave you with good vibes. This class blends the foundations of hip hop dance (popping, toprocking, locking, etc.) to create fun and challenging choreography that is focused on enhancing music listening skills, body awareness, creativity, confidence and hip hop fundamentals. Class will consist of a variety of movements and music ranging from old school to present. My goal is to create a fun, inspiring, uplifting and supportive space for my students to grow together and individually.”

About the Instructor: Haley See was born and raised in Nevada County. At five years old she
got her foot in the door with movement as a competitive gymnast. In preparation for a competition a dancer was hired to help the young gymnasts with their floor routines to strengthen their musicality and fluidity. At that moment a fire had sparked. She left gymnastics to start her new chapter as an aspiring dancer. Haley’s dance career began
when she was 7 years old. She grew up dancing at a local studio known as Sierra Dance Institute that was held above the Center for the Arts. She took several classes a week, training in all styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, hiphop, breakdance, tap, modern and even some acrobatics.
