Youth Arts Education Program

Youth Arts Education Program

Arts education funding to our school systems from state and federal government continues to decrease and opportunities for youth to engage in healthy and positive vehicles for promoting creative thinking, self-esteem, and development of problem-solving skills are needed.   The Center for the Arts is committed to “bridging the gap” between the arts curriculum provided in schools and the need for arts education that exists with our community’s youth.

The Center has produced a popular Summer Youth Arts Camp for the past several years.  In 2012, The Center will be working with local schools and community organizations and expanding this popular program to a year-round Youth Arts Education Program.  It will include all of the popular favorites from the Summer Camp series like Circus Camp, Paint Like the Masters and the Teen Writing Workshop and will add some fun additional sessions like a Public Works art project, Visiting Artist Program, and more.

In addition to the year-round education program, The Center will continue it’s support of the Nevada County Performing Arts Guild (PAG) focusing on full scale theatrical productions with all-child casts and NCNEO and their drug-free, All Ages Rock concerts.

Of course, an endeavor of this magnitude requires an investment to match it!  The Center is committed to doing our part and we hope you will too.  Your membership at The Center goes supports all that we do, including Youth Arts Education, so thank you for becoming a member.  You can also support Youth Arts Education through the e-Scrip program when you shop at your favorite SPD Market.   SPD shoppers who use their SPD Community Card can register to have 3% of their purchases contributed to The Center’s Youth Arts Education Program.

If you already have an SPD Community Card, simply click here and enter The Center for the Arts in the space for the Group Name and follow the instructions to register your card with The Center.

If you don’t have an SPD Community Card, just ask for one the next time you go to SPD and tell them you would like to register your card for The Center for the Arts.

It’s a quick, easy way to continue your support of The Center and our local business supporters.
