The Center for the Arts Volunteer Program

“I really enjoy the service aspect. You get to know and interact with the Center staff and other volunteers, who are truly great people, while serving the public at the same time. Plus, you get to see the shows! I can honestly say that it is one of the more enjoyable things that I’ve done.” – Curt Allen, Volunteer at The Center

The Center has over 800 volunteers that donate their time and energy to support the literary, visual, & performing arts in our community. We value and appreciate each of our volunteers, as The Center would not be able to bring this quality and variety of performances to Nevada County without them.

Volunteers for The Center attend a one and one half hour training designed to give an overall view of our program and the duties to be performed at the Main Stage. Topics include Concessions, Ushering/Greeter, Ticket Taking, bartending, Will Call, Security and Message Taking.

We also discuss our large events held off site at the Grass Valley Vets Hall, as those shows have additional volunteer opportunities.

Trainings are held every 4 months and are posted on the volunteer events link and always located at the Center for the Arts Main Stage, 314 West Main St Grass Valley.

Our volunteers are sent a weekly e-mail listing the upcoming volunteer opportunities. All volunteers must have a working email address. Our dress code is black and white or all black, no prints please. Call time for Volunteers is generally 90 minutes prior to show time.
