In this original puppet production, created and performed by Touched By a Child Dine and Shine Theater, puppets enact stories that show the difference between right and wrong using black light effects. This story was inspired and written by Liz VonSeggen, Todd Liebenow, and Dave Privett from One Way Street, Inc. Productions, which helps children recognize and put into practice the virtue kindness. Virtues are such an old idea that they sometimes seem to be forgotten. They're not. They're always lingering in the back of our minds, waiting for an event or a story to trigger them. In this story kindness is only a few of the many fine old character traits known as virtues. This word, "virtue," comes from the Latin word meaning "excellence" or “worth.” The show, The Flow-ears From Wurdza, was created by Kathleen McVicker to help trigger a child’s mind to recognize and put into practice life's highest virtue kindness. The beginning scene starts with a scene in a 50’s diner ready to be opened for business as a dinner show. However, those working in the diner are unaware of the Flow-ears, flowers with ears, who have come from the planet Wurdza to visit Earth to find kind words for their King. As the story unfolds the puppets realize, as does the audience, that words can hurt or words can heal. With lots of great music we hope this play brings the reality of how words can hurt each other on the playground at school, with their friends, and at home with their families. |
