Bring your curiosity or passion for theatre and performing and come create an original show to perform for friends and family on the last day of camp. (No formal dance or singing training is necessary, and is always welcome. Experienced actors have opportunities for leadership and advanced training) We start each day exploring the “principles of good acting and character development” thru theatre games and skill development exercises with mini-plays, skits, poetry, and Broadway songs. We often throw in a bit of Improv to keep us all on our toes. We spend time each day learning music, lyrics, and choreography from Broadway musicals and movies. By mid week a story starts to emerge around the songs, skits, scenes, and characters we have been developing and practicing. Sometimes we adapt an original scene from a Broadway play to be part of our final show. Everyone is onstage for the entire show and has the opportunity to create, develop and sustain a believable character that is part of the story. Come PLAY with us! (The final production is at 12:30 on the last class of each camp and lasts approximately 25 minutes) * Younger children with two or more years of dance or theatre training will be considered for acceptance by the instructor into all sessions if there is space.
